Unfortunately we live along a busy road and though we are sure that Cimbi would never run away, we do not take any risk, so we always close the dogs in the house when my hubby drives in or out with the car or when the gate is open for any reason whatsoever. Cimbi usually watches this from the window to see when he can go out and check the situation for himself.
