Cimbi and Mr Higgins

We try to take Cimbi with us wherever we go - if it is possible. Naturally, the places are limited where one can go with a giant dog of this size but the we do our best.
Yesterday was a shocking evening for Cimbi. We went for a quick run to the park late in the afternoon but then we had to go to the vet clinic to pick up Mr Higgins (you may remember the Magnum series with Tom Selleck, I loved the series and especially Mr Higgins the clumsy and funny caretaker - we named Higi after him), one of our rescued dobes as he was over the neutering operation and he was moving to a foster home. Our task was to transport him to the foster family.
Cimbi has already met  some of our rescued dobermanns but all of them were living in foster families already for some time and behaved and smelled like any other dog at the dog school or in the park which has a family. Mr Higi however smelled like a shelter dog  after spending weeks at the dog catcher and then in the kennel at the clinic. Mr Higi is a very calm elderly dobi and he is happy to belong to somewhere and that there are people who look after him. Anyway, Cimbi had to share the back of the car with Mr Higi (who travelled in a box of course). Cimbi was worried, he did not understand what this strange smelling dog is doing in the car, he pressed his head to Attila's shoulder seeking comfort. He was absolutely friendly with Higgins but was also relieved when we left him with his new foster dad and got back int he car without him. This experince was too much for him, he was knocked out after we got home:))
But it is OK, he must realize that there are lots of dogs who are not as lucky as he is.
